Glenda Rae Carter was born on August 5, 1950, in St. Francis, KS, near the family farm to Harry Neitzel, Jr. and Elvera Neitzel. She grew up on the farm with her parents and brother, Gary Neitzel. She went to elementary school, Prairie View, near the farm and went to High School in St. Francis. Later she attended college at the University of Kansas where she graduated in 1971. Glenda spent most of her working life in Kansas City in the grain industry where she was a traffic manager.
Glenda married William (Bill) Carter on June 26, 1982. She often called Bill the "love of my life". They spent many years together in Atchison, KS, where they had an acreage hunting ducks and other waterfowl. They were members of Ducks Unlimited for many years.
Glenda had many interests including genealogy, reading books, survival prepping, and playing the accordion. She played the accordion off and on for over 60 years.
After her husband passed in 2017 Glenda moved to Texas in 2018 to be near her brother, Gary, and Bill's daughter, Katy Meek and her children, Elizabeth and Dale Meek. She developed many friends including Cecial Vazquez and her family and Karen Barlow and her family. After a short illness Glenda passed away at a hospital in Fort Worth, TX.
Survivors include her brother Gary Neitzel of Joshua, TX, and Bill's family, daughter Katy Meek of Fort Woth, TX, son Barry Meek of Kansas City, grandchild Elizabeth Meek and children of Fort Worth, and grandchild Dale Meek of Oklahoma City, OK. She is preceded in death by her husband Bill Carter, and parents Harry and Elvera Neitzel.
Funeral services will be held at the Mountain Valley Funeral Home, 3407 SW Wilshire Blvd, Joshua, TX, on April 3, 2025, at 2 pm, followed by burial at Caddo Cemetery, 6700 FM 1902, Joshua, TX.
Glenda was a very generous person and helped many people. She leaves behind family and friends who will always treasure her life and love.
