Mike Tate

December 25, 1938 — February 7, 2025

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Harry Michael Tate, affectionately known as Mike, Michael, and Tater. A beloved husband, father, stepfather, grandfather, and the best friend anyone could hope to have. If you were his friend, and even if you weren't, he always made you feel welcomed and loved.

Born on December 25, 1938, to Cora Dee and Harry Swain Tate, Mike grew up in Andrews, Texas. He was a passionate athlete, running track, playing football, and participating in every sport and activity he could. He never stopped sharing his high school football and track stories. He loved growing up in Andrews, embodying the spirit of a true West Texas guy. He shared a close bond with his beloved older sister Cleta, and his sister Betty who passed away at an early age.

Michael spent most of his work life with Amoco in Odessa, where he even owned an automobile body shop. He loved working on equipment and cars, especially race cars. No one was more dependable and encouraging in the "pit" than Mike. He was a member of the Odessa Jaycees, a talented mason, and could build and fix most anything. His green thumb blessed many plants, and he had a unique talent for communicating with dogs, perhaps even inspiring the dog whisperer.

He married Helen Burnett, who passed away in June 1985, leaving Michael to continue raising their daughter My’Leah. In February 1986, he married Patty Lees. They were married for 38 years, moving to Dallas and starting their own business, Regency Office Supply and Printing. Through hard work, determination, and God's blessing, they built the business from the ground up to multimillion-dollar company. They cherished their business, loyal employees, and faithful clients, considering them family. When Michael joined our family, he became an ambassador of peace, always exemplifying love and kindness to Patty's entire family.

Mike is survived by:
