Howard R. Clowdus, 96, of Burleson, a retired machinist for Texas Steel, died Sunday, Oct. 31, 2010, in Fort Worth. Funeral: 10 a.m. Saturday in Mountain Valley Funeral Home Chapel. Interment: Bethany Cemetery, Alvarado. Visitaion: 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Mountain Valley Funeral Home. Howard Russell Clowdus was born Nov. 25, 1913, in Alvarado to W. Elmor and Nellie Garrett Clowdus. He married Helen Lois Wilson on Aug. 7, 1935, in Alvarado. He was a member of Reece Prairie Baptist Church in Burleson. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Helen, on Sept. 21, 2010; brothers, Floyd and Raymond; sister, Hazel Wilson; and grandson, Greg Fletcher. Survivors: Sons, James R. Clowdus and wife, Martha, of Lampasas and Kenneth A. Clowdus and wife, Linda, of Brownwood; daughter, Gail M. Fletcher and husband, Dale, of Hurst; seven grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
