Hugh Thomas "Tommy" Bruton

April 5, 1940 — April 27, 2020

Alvarado

Hugh Thomas Bruton, 80 years old, of Alvarado, TX, was also known as Tommy by those that loved and knew him.

Private family graveside services will be held at Rosehill Cleburne on Friday.

Open visitation from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday at Mountain Valley Funeral Home.

On April 27, 2020, Tommy was peacefully taken home by his heavenly father. His devoted wife of 45 years, Claudie (Dunagan) Bruton was at his side, in their home. During his final days at
home, he was also surrounded by many family and friends that cherished him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert David “A.D.” and Lima Dee Bruton, a brother, David Bruton, and his sisters, Sue (Bruton) Walker, Kathryn (Bruton) Bransom.

Tommy leaves behind a wife, Claudie Bruton; a son, Tommy Bruton, Jr and Kim Wilkins; a daughter, Tyree Moody and husband Kenney; Granddaughters, Leah Doty, Tina Brown and husband Brian, Lacy Bruton and Brayden Bruton; Great-Grandchildren, Rose and Levi Brown. Tommy will also be greatly missed by his Goddaughter, Renate Finley, Godsons, Brian Garr and John Verpooten, and the many others that he and Claudie accepted as their own.

He was born April 5, 1940, in San Antonio, Texas, and raised in the Central Texas Hill Country area. As an adult, Tommy moved to the Ft. Worth Metroplex area, and had a successful career as a custom home builder. Tommy was a devoted believer of Jesus Christ, and active in his church family until his passing. He had a big heart for the youth in his church, and was always offering a helping hand when one was needed. His love and passion for horses was very evident throughout Tommy’s lifetime. Their beloved horses took he and Claudie to many Amateur
Rodeos over the years; Tommy in the Tie-Down Calf Roping and Claudie in the Barrel Racing.

After they hung up their spurs, Tommy took on a new adventure and got his pilot's license. He and Claudie enjoyed spending time flying to different areas in their Cesna 174 plane. Tommy
and Claudie also started traveling the country-side, making it to almost every National Park and state in the USA. Family and friends were very often along for the travel and big adventures in
their motor-home. They would spend hours at their most favorite fishing holes, curled up next to a cozy campfire, or admiring the wildlife they would see along their journeys. They enjoyed
spending time taking in the incredible sights, visiting numerous ornate buildings, and touring the area museums. They were also known to partake in other adventurous activities such as
kayaking, white water rafting, hot air balloon rides, train rides along the countryside, and even flew through the Grand Canyon.

Tommy always wore a smile on his face. His personality was big, and his stories were legendary. There wasn’t a friend, or stranger alike, that was safe from his witty, joking humor. Tommy was a kind, and loving husband. He and Claudie were a team in almost every aspect of their daily lives; where one was, so was the other, side by side. There was an extraordinary love shared between the two of them. Their marriage was truly based upon the spiritual covenant that they took together; they would “love, honor, and cherish” one another until “death do we part”.

As an expression of sympathy, Claudie is requesting that donations be made directly to the Open Door Church Youth Ministry. Please mail your contributions to: Open Door Youth Ministry, In remembrance of Tommy Bruton, PO Box 3775, Burleson, TX 76097.
