BURLESON -- Irene Roe Clinkscale, 96, of Burleson, a retired school teacher, died Saturday, April 4, 2009, in Fort Worth. Funeral: 10 a.m. Monday in First Baptist Church of Burleson. Interment: Burleson Memorial Park. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Mountain Valley Funeral Home. Mrs. Clinkscale was born April 4, 1913, in Prairie Dell to G.J. and Lucy Mae Bland Roe. She married J.H. Clinkscale on April 17, 1934, in Corn Hill. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Burleson for 60 years. She established the first kindergarten in Burleson and operated it for almost 40 years. Throughout her life she was involved in numerous civic activities, including the American Business Womens Association, Burleson Chamber Of Commerce, Burleson Garden Club, Order of Eastern Star and the Red Hat Society. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; three brothers; and a daughter, Nancy Clinkscale. Survivors: Sons, David Clinkscale and wife, Karen, of Granbury, Tim Clinkscale and wife, Yvonne, of Diana; sister, Alta Thompson of Crowley; dear family friend, Mauna Kea Hughes; grandchildren, Brian Clinkscale, Tracey Scott, Rebekah Clinkscale, Tim Clinkscale, Troy Clinkscale, Cory Clinkscale, Toby Clinkscale, Katy Sherry; 13 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; thousands of students influenced by her love of learning.
