James Weldon 'Cotton' Anderson

James Weldon 'Cotton' Anderson, 89, passed away Monday, October 14, 2024, in Burleson, Texas, surrounded by his family. Service: Thursday, October 17, 1:30 p.m. at First Baptist Church, Burleson. Interment: Laurel Land Memorial Park. Visitation to precede the Service beginning at 12:30 in the Atrium of First Baptist Church, Burleson.

James was born October 2, 1935, in Cresson, Texas to Clyde and Marie Anderson. He graduated from Whitesboro High School. He worked in sign advertising with North Texas, Bolte and Whiteco Advertising companies, as a supervisor, beginning in 1955. In 1970 he purchased and ran a small grocery store in Everman, Texas. In 1980 he began working for the University of Texas in Tyler until his retirement.

Through the years James was President of the Junior Chamber of Commerce and the Volunteer Fire Department in Granbury; served in the Army National Guard as a Tank Crewman for two years; served on the Everman Volunteer Fire Department; organized the Everman Volunteer Ambulance Service, where he served as captain for three years; served a two year term on the Everman City Council; aided the Boy Scouts with volunteers; taught Sunday School at his church in Tyler along with leading a service at the local nursing home each week for many years; taught a Life Group at First Baptist Burleson once he moved back to the metroplex in 2010.

His greatest desire was to share Jesus with everyone he met and that he did!

James was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde & Marie Anderson, Brother, Joe Anderson, sister, Mary Frances, wife, Marie Anderson and three grandsons.

He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Anderson; daughters, Debbie Yates and husband, Bobby, Cathy Falls and husband, Robert, Sue Lewis and husband, Paul; Renee' Albert and husband, Earl, sons, Craig Stuck, Keith Stuck, and Ron Frances and wife, Deanna; 19 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; four brothers; extended family; and a host of friends.
