James Franklin Cannon, 77, of Crowley, passed away Monday, June 27, 2016. Funeral Service: 10AM, Tuesday, July 5th, Mountain Valley Funeral Home Chapel. Burial: DFW National Cemetery, Grand Prairie, 1PM Lane A. James was born April 24, 1939, in Atlanta, GA, to Herman and Jewell (Sams) Cannon. He retired with 22 years in the U.S. Army, including 2 tours in Vietnam, and was awarded the Bronze Star Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster. James was the city manager of Menard for 20 years. He was a member of Burleson Church of Christ. James was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors: wife, Margaret Cannon of Crowley; daughters, Sherry Stephens of Houston, Beverly Childress and husband, Brett of Crowley; son, Jack Cannon and wife, Brenda of Mansfield; 5 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; brothers, Michael Cannon and wife, Linda of Newnan, GA, Steven Cannon and wife Amy of Fayetteville, GA; sister, Peggy Buntin of Senoia, GA; loving extended family and friends.
