J.D. "Doby" Kelly peacefully passed away on Saturday evening, May 29, 2010 in a Fort Worth hospital, lovingly surrounded by his family. Funeral: 2:00 P.M Wednesday in Mountain Valley Funeral Home Chapel. Interment: Greenwood Cemetery, Fort Worth. Visitation: 1 p.m. Prior to service. Memorials: Charity of choice. He was born March 8, 1929 in Erath County near Bluff Dale, the son of Allen Cicero and Bessie May Underwood Kelly. J.D. was a wonderful Christian who had placed membership with the Burleson Church of Christ after moving to Burleson. He was the owner of F & E Check Protector Company in Fort Worth for many years, was a long time member of the Fort Worth Founder Lions Club where he had at one time served as their president. J.D. was formerly a member of Travis Avenue Baptist Church in Fort Worth where he taught the men's Kelly Class, and prior to that was the leader of the College and Career class. He was also prominent in the Praisingers Choir and a long supporter of TABS. He was also an intercessor and on the committee for the Prayer Room at Travis. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Gypsy Kelly, a daughter, Carolyn Kelly, and a brother, Delton Kelly. Survivors: His wife, Bobbie Jobe Kelly of Burleson; daughters, Sandra Hester and husband, John, of Lubbock, Suzy Carpenter of Big Bear, CA, Cindy Curry of Fort Worth, Nancy Watts and husband, Barry, of Grand Prairie; stepson, John Jobe and wife, Susan, of Alvarado; sister, Yvonne Moore and husband, Jackie, of Stephenville; five granddaughters, April Falter and husband, Barrett, Kelly Watts, Krystal Curry, Gypsy Hester, Amber Carpenter; one great grandson, Jaiden Falter; two step grandsons, John and Aaron Jobe; several nieces and a nephew.
