James Kent Leeper

January 12, 1939 — February 1, 2025

James "Jim" Kent Leeper was born on January 12, 1939 in Great Bend, Kansas to Elmer and Joy (Lancaster) Leeper. He went home to be with Jesus on Saturday, February 1, 2025.
Jim grew up in the Great Bend, Kansas area with his extended family. After serving in the Army, including a year in Vietnam, he came back to Kansas. He began working for the oilfield company Welex in El Dorado where he met the love of his life Julie Zimmerman at church. They were married on June 9, 1968.
Jim worked for Welex, and subsequently Halliburton, for several decades. The oilfield life led to living in Kansas, Wyoming, Utah, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas. He was a faithful follower of Christ, becoming very active in a Southern Baptist church everywhere he lived. Once he finally officially retired, he loved traveling with Julie, finding things to fix, woodworking, and spoiling his grandchildren.
Jim was predeceased by his parents Elmer and Joy, infant son Kent, and wife Julie. He is survived by son David Leeper and wife Elizabeth of Burleson, grandson Jonathan and wife Kaitlyn of Burleson, granddaughter Megan of Burleson, and numerous cousins.
