James Albert Meyrick

December 19, 1934 — January 3, 2019

James "Jim" Meyrick, 84 of Burleson, passed away Thursday, January 3, 2019 after an extended illness.

Jim was born in Binghamton, NY on December 19, 1934 to Harold and Gladys (Pierce) Meyrick. Jim graduated from Harpur College (State University of NY Binghamton, NY) in 1955 and married Joyce Appleman in 1957. Jim worked as a Tax Executive for Endicott Johnson Shoe Company, Endicott, NY and was an active member of Tax Executives Institute until his retirement in 1998.

Jim was passionate about serving his God, his community and his family. He was a member of St. Mark's Masonic Lodge, Vestal NY, and served as St. Mark's Master Mason in 1976. Jim served as a dedicated volunteer fireman in Little Meadows, PA from 1975 to 1998, including serving as Volunteer Fire Chief; he was also Apolacon Township Supervisor and an active member of the Little Meadows United Methodist Church.
In 1998 Jim moved to Joshua, Texas, joined the Joshua United Methodist Church and served on the Finance Committee. Jim also was active in the Burleson Lions Club, President 2004 - 2005. Jim volunteered for Habitat for Humanity and was a founding member of the Chisholm Trail 100 Club; its mission of supporting First Responders dear to his heart.

Jim lovingly cared for his wife Joyce through a long illness until her death in 2003.

In 2004 Jim met and married Reubelou Gear finding much love and happiness in their 14 years together.

Survivors:
Wife, Reubelou Gear Meyrick, stepson Charles Gear, stepdaughters Elizabeth Gear and Patricia Gear. Daughter, Diane Kelly and husband Keith; granddaughter Shannon. Son, David Meyrick and wife Kristy; grandsons Adam and Austin. Loving cousins and friends in the United States and Wales.
