James Alton Sanderson, 82, of Whitney, Texas, passed away Monday, Jan. 21, 2019 in Burleson, Texas.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 28, 2019, at Mountain Valley Funeral Home.
Graveside service: 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2019, at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas.
James was born Jan. 11, 1937, in O'Donnell, Texas, to Junior H and Lorene (Booth) Sanderson Bedwell. James was the owner of JS Construction and built custom homes for over 50 years. He had a lifetime passion for fast cars, NASCAR and loved spending time in his garage.
James married his longtime sweetheart Jerrie Francine (McCoy) Sanderson on May 19, 1958. On May 19, 2018, James and Francine celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.
James served four years in the United States Navy as a BT2 (E5) Boiler Technician Petty Officer 2nd Class aboard the USS Ticonderoga (CVA-14) from 1957-1961.
He is survived by his wife, Jerrie Francine; daughter, Kimberly K. Gilbert and husband, Terry; granddaughters, Jessica McKay, Allison Anderson, Sarah Gilbert; son, Timothy G. Sanderson; grandson, James Michael Sanderson; granddaughter, Stephanie Sanderson; one brother, one stepsister, one stepbrother and five great-grandchildren.
