Jean left this life on October 17, 2021 and immediately entered into the presence of her Savior. She was 99 years on this earth, born on March 7, 1922 in Waxahachie, Texas to Perry Allard and Myrrl E. (Southern) Allard. Jean graduated from Cleburne High School in 1940 and attended the University of Texas.
She married her high school sweetheart, William Dee Standley, in 1941. She was a committed wife and mother and exhibited the characteristics of an excellent wife as described in Proverbs 31. Jean understood the tenets of the great commandment as described in Matthew 22:36-39 and lived accordingly. Her favorite scripture verses were Ephesians 2:8-10 through which she understood her salvation was through Gods’ grace, not her works and rested wholly upon the actions of her savior, Jesus Christ and the personal relationship that she had with Christ.
Jean was an active member of Wayside Chapel in San Antonio, Texas for many years, served in the church library and was active in various ministry activities. She served on a short term mission trip with Wycliffe Bible Translators in Peru and supported numerous mission minded organizations with her talents and financial resources.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, William Dee Standley; son, David Lee Standley; daughter, Dee Ann Standley.
She is survived by her son, W. Don Standley; grandchildren, Steven B. Standley; W. Travis Standley; Shelby D. Shumate and one great grandson, August M. Shumate.
