Jerrel C. Mahaffey

BURLESON -- Jerrel C. Mahaffey, 72, of Burleson, a retired materials handler, died Monday July 13, 2009 in Crowley. Funeral: 1:00 P.M. Thursday July 16, 2009 at Tabernacle Baptist Church of Rendon. Interment: D.F.W. National Cemetery. Visitation: 6-8 P.M. Wednesday at Mountain Valley Funeral Home. Jerrel was born Feb. 19, 1937 in McCaulley to Roy and Nettie Donham Mahaffey. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who especially loved his grandchildren. Jerrel was very active in his church and was a trustee and served as a decon. He also was head of the Huguley Nursing Home Ministry. Jerrel loved working with his hands, landscaping, building things, cooking out, sitting outside along with just being outdoors. Jerrel was extreamly active in all areas of life. He was preceded in death by 1 brother and 1 sister. Survivors: Wife, Dorothy M. Mahaffey of Burleson; sons, Jeffrey Lee Mahaffey of Burleson, James Robert Mahaffey of Burleson; grandchildren, Laura Ashley Mahaffey, Brittney Lea Mahaffey, Destany Paige Mahaffey, Austin Nathaniel Taylor; great grandchild, Cambrie Grace; brothers, Jimmy and Fred; sisters, Louise, Jewel and Othene; many extended family and friends.
