Jerry Lavon Pace
Jerry Lavon Pace went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, July 27th, 2024, at the age of 67. Beloved businessman, banker, REALTOR and community leader, Jerry enjoyed serving on boards at the City of Crowley, Crowley Area Chamber of Commerce, and was a loyal active member of The Heights Church in Burleson. He married the love of his life, Tina in 1990 who deeply cherished him and faithfully walked by his side for the last 34 years.
Born in Cleburne, TX on July 3rd, 1957, to loving Christian parents Verdie & Winnie Pace, and the middle brother to siblings Larry and Michael, Jerry grew up in Burleson where he attended all 12 years of school and graduated from Burleson High in 1975. It was then he sought a career in banking at 18 and worked every bank position over the years, all the way up to President of Bank of Crowley in 2005, spanning a 38-year career, then retired from banking in 2013. He was humbled and honored to win "Best Community Banker" awards for many years running before his retirement.
In January 2014, Jerry and his wife Tina began their real estate career, working as a team, helping customers find the right home, and guiding people through life's transitions. Over the last 10 years, they received numerous awards from their brokerage, The Sales Team REALTORS DFW for exemplifying Core Values: Relationships, Integrity, Excellence, and Grace. Jerry genuinely loved serving his bank customers and real estate customers, BUT MINISTRY in Jesus' Name was always his true calling.
With a deep faith and trust in Jesus Christ, Jerry dedicated his entire life to the ministry of the Gospel. He had the most beautiful and anointed singing voice, and he loved using it to bless people and lead them to Jesus. His heart's desire was that everyone he knew would accept Jesus as their personal Savior as he did. God used Jerry to minister in music for 50 years in many different ways... singing with his brothers & cousins in his first group, Sounds of Salvation beginning in 1974, to singing Christian rock lead vocals in the New Covenant Band during the 80's. He also ministered in music with several other vocal groups, including Joshua and Servant's Heart.
Then, he and his wife Tina began singing together as a duo in 1990, writing Christian songs and continued ministering in music over the final 34 years of his life. Jerry and Tina served as worship pastors at Cleburne First Assembly, Church of Abundant Life, and Harvest Assembly of God, and sang at many local senior living communities and annual local community events as well. Jerry's most powerful song he wrote was "He's Still The Lord," which is still blessing many people today!
Jerry was also a prayer warrior and personally led many friends to Jesus. Anyone who asked for prayer knew that Jerry would intercede and pray for them. He was a mighty man of GOD with a strong understanding and deep knowledge of God's Word. Jerry's life verse was, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek His Will in all you do, and He will show you which path to take." Proverbs 3: 5,6 NLT.
He was treasured by many as he loved everyone like Jesus and accepted people just as they are. Jerry fiercely loved his wife, his family and friends, he loved to travel, he loved to play table tennis, and he especially loved to tell everyone of his personal testimony of God's faithfulness in his own life to strengthen their faith as well. He leaves behind a beautiful legacy: a dedicated wife, praying mother, brothers, brother-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, great niece, great nephews, numerous cousins, aunts & uncles, and a host of church kids who called him their "Daddy Jerpa."
Jerry is survived by his wife Tina LaJuan Pace, who resides in Crowley, TX.
His precious mother, Mary Wynell Pace (who is 92), elder brother, Larry Pace and his wife Melinda, and younger brother, Michael Pace, who all reside in Burleson, TX.
Nephew, Jarrod Pace and his wife Julie, along with their children: Brooklynne, Bryson, and Bennett, who reside in Mansfield, TX.
Nephew, Jordan Pace and his wife Tayler, along with their son Landry, who reside in Waxahachie, TX
Jerry's honorary kids are Nathan & Keri Roberts, along with their son Jax, who resides in CO, AND Brianna & Preston Arsement, who reside in Dallas, TX.
He was preceded in death by his father, Verdie Pace, whom he dearly loved, his precious grandparents, and many aunts and uncles. The Pace Family legacy of ministry goes back to Jerry's grandfather, Evangelist Virgil "Pop" Pace who ministered all over TX, OK, and NM since the early 1900's. Jerry was also blessed by his maternal grandfather "PaPaw" Thomas Wood, a mighty man of God, who lived to be 100 and demonstrated a strong FAITH in God which not only encouraged Jerry, but many future generations.
Jerry greatly valued his relationship with Jesus, as does ALL of his family members on the Pace & Wood side. It's a rare family bond with Jesus that Jerry never took for granted. His wonderful voice, his laughter, his wit, and most specifically his LOVE will ring in the hearts of everyone who ever knew him until Jesus comes!
