Jimmie Don Henderson (J.D.), beloved husband, dad, grandpa and great grandpa passed away on April 17, 2021 at the age of 84. He was born in Duncan, Oklahoma on Jan. 21, 1937 to Virgil W Henderson and Mary Henderson. He was raised in Irving and graduated from Irving High School in 1955. He attended Oklahoma Baptist University and Texas Wesleyan College. He served in the Air Force for 4 years, and then became an electrician and partner in Lockhart Technical Service. After retiring he owned a glass etching business and later devoted his time to volunteering in the Promises Ministry at the First Baptist Church, Burleson. He was an active member for almost 60 years, serving as a Sunday school teacher, Royal Ambassadors (R.A.) leader, deacon, choir member and many other capacities.
He was preceded in death by his parents and 3 brothers, Virgil Jr. , Bud and Gene. He is survived by his wife of 62 years Linda; 2 daughters Cindy Lunday and husband Mark, and Brenda Henderson; 2 granddaughters Miranda McGowan and Shiloh McGee and husband Justin; and 3 great grandchildren Aubrey, Malachi and Molly McGowan.
Visitation will be held at Mountain Valley Funeral Home on Tues, April 20th from 6 to 8 p.m. Services will be on April 21st at 10 a.m. at First Baptist Church Burleson. Burial will be at Glenwood Cemetery in Alvarado. In lieu of flowers the family suggest donations be made to the Promises Ministry or building fund at First Baptist Church, Burleson.
The family extends their greatest appreciation to Isaac, Fatuma, Christine, Unique, Kendra, and Vanessa for all the wonderful attentive care given to our loved one.
