Jimmy Curtis Neeley, 70, died March 31, 2018, after a brief but fierce struggle with brain cancer. He was born Sept. 3, 1947, in Malden, Missouri, to Herman and Dessie Neeley. Jimmy and Peggy were married in June 1966. Four months later he was drafted into the Army; he served his country in Vietnam. Jimmy leaves his wife of 51 years, Peggy; son, Greg Neeley and wife, Kari, their children, Payton and Ashlyn; daughter, Christy Carroll and husband, Travis, their daughters, Presley and Brynn. He is also survived by one sister, Patsy Gatlin, many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by two siblings, Melba and Gillis. Jimmy, a carpenter in Cedar Hill, Texas, for 25 years, was retired in Burleson, Texas. He took pleasure in many outdoor sports, but his favorite pastime was hunting. He enjoyed the camaraderie of friends around the camp fire, but even when alone, he loved being in the mountains or woods, surrounded by God's nature. Graveside services will be held at 9:15 a.m. Friday, April 6, 2018, at DFW National Cemetery, with Pastor Ed Newton officiating. Visitation will be from 6-7 p.m. Thursday, April 5, 2018, at Mountain Valley Funeral Home.
