John Wayne Elvington

On July 17, 1941, John Wayne Elvington was born in Tioga, Grayson County, Texas to Rollie and Alice Elvington.  He passed away in Johnson County on Tuesday, February 8, 2022 after a battle with cancer and other health issues.

John married Lynda Raye Timmons on December 21, 1962.  They celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary in 2021.

John was employed at Bell Helicopter for 35 years.  He was a supervisor for a good number of those years.  He was an extremely loyal and proud employee.  Many at Bell called him “Duke” because his name was John Wayne.

John is survived by his wife, Lynda, daughter Carla Bonham of White Settlement, Texas, daughter Jane Bandy of Crowley, Texas, son John Raymond Elvington and wife Donna of Milsap, Texas, 9 grandchildren and 12 great grand children.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, and two sisters.

His presence on earth is sorely missed.

Graveside services will be at 3:00 Tuesday, February 15 at Cope Cemetery, 2744-2756 Dave Angel Road, Burleson, Texas.  No family visitation service will be scheduled.
