Josephine Knellinger

Mary Josephine "Jo" Knellinger passed away peacefully on October 10, 2019 at her home with family by her side. She was born on January 31, 1924 in Hamilton, Texas to John Andrew and Emma Melinda Blom.
Jo was a very strong and independent woman who worked hard all her life. In 1948, she achieved a degree in Homemaking from Texas State College for Women in Denton, now known as Texas Woman's University. On August 27, 1947, Jo married the love of her life, John Speedy Knellinger, who preceded her in death in 1974. Even after his passing, Jo remained faithful to him her entire life. Most of her professional life was spent teaching in the Premont ISD where she retired after 34 years of service.
Jo taught school, raised cattle, sewed clothes for her and her daughter, crocheted, made crafts, learned oil painting and in later years traveled, camped and served others on several Sojourns with her daughter and son-in-law. She was a faithful Christian woman who enjoyed serving and helping others as often as she could. While living in Premont, she was always willing to drive her friends to their appointments, provide food, support and guidance to those she loved. After moving to Burleson in 2003, she continued in her service to others as a Red Hat, as a member of the Burleson Church of Christ and as a volunteer at nearby Hughley Hospital.
Jo was preceded in death by her mother and father, her husband John Speedy Knellinger (1974), her son Charles Andrew Knellinger (2000), all three of her siblings and their spouses, her step-mother Thelma Blom (1993) and one great granddaughter Avery Nicole Henley (2006).
Jo is survived by her daughter Mary (Harold) Meadows, daughter-in-law Cynthia Reynolds her four grandchildren: Charlene (Scott) Henley, Clayton (Amy) Knellinger, Justin (Brittanie) Meadows, Caleb (Nikita) Meadows and 10 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Visitation will take place at the Burleson Church of Christ on Saturday, October 12, 2019 at 9 AM, followed by services at 10 AM to celebrate her life. Burial will be at the Premont Cemetery on October 14, 2019 at 1 PM in Premont, Texas.
