Joy Nell Underwood

Joy Nell Underwood, 87, of Burleson, a retired business owner, passed away Friday, Aug. 9, 2013, in Weatherford. Memorial service: 11 a.m. Thursday, Mountain Valley Funeral Home Chapel in Joshua. No visitation is scheduled. Joy was born Dec. 14, 1925, in Brownwood to Marvin and Estelle Kirksey Flowers. She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Leroy "Weed" Underwood. Together they operated Audio Associates for 30 years, one of the first high fidelity audio businesses in Fort Worth. Joy and Weed were members of the World Travelers Flying Club and the Horseless Carriage Club for many years. They sincerely enjoyed sharing their common interests with friends from both clubs. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. The family would like to thank the staff of Santa Fe Nursing Home for their wonderful care. Survivors: Daughter, Denise Biondo and husband, Jimmy, of Weatherford; son, Rex Underwood and wife, Sandra, of Burleson; sister, Jeanette Mallory and husband, Pat, of Blanket; grandchildren, Julie Bryson and husband, Brad, Holly Sanders, Donnie Sanders, Tony Narvaez, and Lindsy McGarrey and husband, Michael; great-grandchildren, Bailey and Brittany Bryson; and many extended family and friends.
