Joyce Myrlene Pollard was born October 7, 1936, in Lillian, TX, to Lewis Oliver and Virgie Irene (Gilreath) Pollard. She grew up in Alvarado, and graduated from Alvarado High School in 1955 before moving to Burleson in 1969. She has been a member of First United Methodist Church Burleson for many years.

She began her career at Houston Fire and Casualty Insurance Co. in 1955. She then went on to work for various financial institutions until her retirement in 2001.

Throughout her life, her family was always the most precious thing to her. The only thing she loved more than being with family, was cooking for the family.

She was also preceded in death by three nephews: Daniel Otis Pollard, Stephen Keith Pollard, and Scott Anthony Pollard.

She is survived by her brothers Bill Pollard of Alvarado and Ronnie Pollard and wife Jackie of Burleson, sisters-in-law Yvonne (Mahanay) Pollard of Fort Worth and Ann Ell (Anthony) Pollard of Cleburne, and numerous nieces and nephews and their families.

Contributions to the North Texas Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association may be made in memory of Joyce and her sisters who were lost to Alzheimer’s, in lieu of flowers.
