Karen Eileen (Harman) Ficklin, age 58, was born in Fort Worth, Texas on January 16, 1965, to Andrew "Joe" and Lana (Baker) Harman. She passed away from cancer on Monday, September 25, 2023, surrounded by loved ones.
Karen grew up in Egan, Texas with her parents and two siblings. Max Harman and Delene Bennett. Growing up she had a love for riding horses and motorcycles with family and friends. Karen graduated from Joshua High School in 1983 and studied at Tarrant County College after high school. Karen took her love of horses and worked in the equestrian industry most of her adult life. She worked in horse magazine subscriptions, and managed awards for various events.
Karen was married from 1986 to 1996. During that time, she had two children, Marybeth Ficklin and Julie (Ficklin) Thibodeaux. Karen loved her family and children more than most people ever get to experience. She always valued spending her time with family over everything else. She was always selfless in her care and needs for everyone around her. Anyone who knew her, knew just how beautiful, smart, and amazing she was and how much joy she brought to this world. The truest joy of Karen's life was her granddaughter, Ryen Thibodeaux. "Grandma" spent every available moment with her granddaughter, and ensured they had the greatest of adventures together. They enjoyed traveling, watching movies, and playing games together.
Karen was preceded in death by her father, Andrew "Joe" Harman.
She is survived by her mother (Lana Harman), two children (Marybeth Ficklin and her husband Randall Hogan, and Julie Thibodeaux and her partner Jacob Thibodeaux), her granddaughter (Ryen Thibodeaux), 4 step grandchildren, and her two siblings (Max and his wife Carrie Harman, and Delene Bennett), numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
