Kenneth A Bransom

Services for Kenneth A. Bransom will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, March 20, 2017 at Burleson Church of Christ, 1150 John Jones Drive. Visitation is from 2-4 p.m. Sunday, March 19, 2017, at Mountain Valley Funeral Home in Joshua, Texas. Donations in memory of Mr. Bransom may be made to the Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD) Foundation or the Burleson Church of Christ. Kenneth A. Bransom, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, was born on August 1, 1932 in rural Johnson County near Burleson and passed away peacefully on March 14, 2017. He graduated from Joshua High School and attended Tarleton State College (now Texas A & M) in Stephenville, Texas. Kenneth married the love of his life, Pearl Milner, on January 16, 1953, the same day he received his draft notice. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War. Kenneth and Pearl later welcomed daughter, Carla. Kenneth began his professional career with Texas Power & Light (now TXU), retiring as an accounting manager after thirty-five years of successful service with the company. After retiring, Kenneth and Pearl returned to Joshua to begin a rewarding and enriching period in their lives. Kenneth proudly served as a civic leader in his community: on the Joshua City Council from 1994 to 1995, Mayor of Joshua from 1996 to 2001, and on the Planning and Zoning Committee from 2004 to 2010. He also served on the Board of the Johnson County Freshwater Supply District #1 from 2003 to 2007 and on the Board of the Johnson County Special Utility District from 2007 to 2015. He was Board President of the Johnson County Special Utility District in 2009 and 2010. Kenneth was honored as 1997 Joshua Citizen of the Year. When Kenneth was mayor, he was instrumental in having Laura Bush, then wife of the Texas Governor, dedicate the opening of the Joshua Public Library. He was a founding member of the Library Board, on which he continued to serve until his death. Kenneth enjoyed farming and ranching during his retirement. Some of his happiest moments were spent on his tractor and working with his cattle. Kenneth was an extraordinary individual: a gentle, kind person who genuinely liked people and was highly respected in his community. A true gentleman, he was always courteous and polite with impeccable manners and tried to find the best in everyone. Kenneth always put others first, exemplifying the Bible verse Philippians 2:3. He was a hardworking, conscientious, humble man of integrity and strong moral character. A person who truly cared about others, Kenneth served as a mentor for many family members and friends and was an outstanding example. His grandchildren, Kenneth Aaron and Olivia, were two major joys in his life. His eyes would light up when he talked about them and their accomplishments. He delighted in attending their horse shows, transporting them to 4H activities, and attending their school events. He especially enjoyed taking them to his farm to ride horses and take care of the cows. His wife, Pearl, preceded him in death in June 2016, after 63 years of marriage. His survivors include: Carla and Rudolf Siegesmund, daughter and son-in-law of Dallas Texas; grandson Kenneth Aaron Wethington of San Antonio, Texas; granddaughter Olivia Wethington of Houston, Texas; sister Evelyn Carey of Springtown, Texas; many cousins, nieces, and nephews. Special thanks to Judy and the staff at Cleburne Dialysis Center who provided excellent dialysis treatment and care for seven years.
