Kittie Mae Pruitt

August 18, 1910 — April 12, 2010

Kittie Mae Williams Pruitt of Henderson Kentucky went to be with her Lord and Savior on. April 12, 2010. She was 99 (and a half) years old. Funeral: 3:00 P.M. Wednesday in Mountain Valley FUneral Home Chapel. Visitation: 2-3 P.M. Wednesday prior to service. Interment: Fernwood Cemetery, Henderson, Kentucky. Kittie was born on August 18, 1910 in Henderson, Kentucky and moved to Texas in 1999 to be near her daughters. Kittie was the second oldest of five children born to Garland and Winnie Williams. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings: Austin Williams, Bessie Lee Wilkerson, Retus Williams and James Williams. She was also preceded in death by her two sons; Richard (Dick) Pruitt and Billie Neal Pruitt and a son-in-law, Charles Griffin formerly of Henderson. She is survived by two daughters; Carelton Griffin Weaver and husband Harrell Weaver of Crowley, Texas and Hazel Hershey and husband Elmer Hershey of Houston, Texas; daughter-in-law Barbara Pruitt of Henderson, Kentucky; Grandchildren: Terry Pruitt, Darla Pruitt Oliver, Debbie Pruitt Powell, Clarence (Griff) Griffin, April Griffin Smith, Kathy Weaver Shaw, Lynette Weaver Rice, Neil Hershey and Stephanie Hershey; eighteen great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Kittie retired from Corydon grade school in 1980 after serving as head cook for 29 years. She had many hobbies and talents including painting, crocheting, writing poetry and other crafts. She won many awards and ribbons throughout her lifetime. As Kittie grew older and lost her eyesight she continued to enjoy her love of painting by using her finger to complete many beautiful paintings. Her legacy will live on through hundreds of beautiful things she created and has left to her family and friends. She was a current member of 1st Baptist Church in Burleson Texas, a past member of Corydon Missionary Baptist, Audubon Baptist and Wilson Station Sunday School where she was a pianist. She will be fondly remembered by all whose lives she touched.
