La Rue C. Huckabee Law, 91, of Burleson, a retired executive secretary died October 22, 2017. La Rue C. Huckabee Law was born November 16, 1925 in Erath County, Texas. She is the daughter of Jeff and Lois Chandler. La Rue lived in the Comyn and De Leon, Texas areas until her father, who was working for the Humble Oil & Refining Company in Comyn, Texas was killed in an explosion in July of 1942. Upon graduating as Valedictorian of her class, she moved to Fort Worth, Texas and attended Brantley-Draughn College. She spent her entire working tenure primarily with independent oil companies. La Rue married Hayes Morris Huckabee on August 19, 1950, in Waco, Texas. He preceded her in death on September 13, 1985. She was also preceded in death by her parents and her two brothers, J. L. Chandler, Jr. and Winford Paul Chandler. Prior to joining South Burleson Baptist Church in 2002, La Rue was an active member of the Fellowship Sunday School Class and the First United Methodist Church in Burleson for 40 years. Survivors: husband, Raymond J. Law of Burleson; nieces, Paula Searcey and husband, Dennis of Edgewood, and their children, Stacy Lynn and Kevin, and Janet Sanders and husband, Ray of De Leon, and Janet's son, Derrik, as well as Cheri Chandler and her son, Philip Rozakis and wife Karley; one nephew, Wiley Alvin Chandler and wife, Linda of Farmers Branch and their two children, Michael and Mischa, and two great-great nieces; and her beloved dog and companion, Bo.
