Lanetta Bridschge, 65 of Burleson, TX went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, December 16, 2018.
Lanetta was born in Tyler, TX on March 19, 1953, to F.E and Janie Meador. They later moved to Burleson, TX where Lanetta graduated from Burleson High School in 1971. Shortly after graduation, she met the love of her life Donald and they married just a year later. They spent 46 magical years as husband and wife. Lanetta and Donald had 4 daughters during this time. Lanetta loved her family and friends but most of all, she loved the Lord. She loved singing in the church choir over the years, and spreading the word of God to anyone that would listen. Her smile and laughter would fill a room and her voice was so comforting, but the thing she was best at was loving and being a servant to others. She is now lighting up the sky, as she did our world. It's not goodbye, it's until we see you again!
She is preceded in death by her father F.E Meador and mother Janie Meador, of Burleson, TX.
Survived by her husband Donald of 46 years, daughters, Michelle Martin and husband Kaare, Melissa Willson and husband John, Marie Johnson and husband Michael, and Meredith Bridschge, all of Burleson, TX. Her brother Gary Meador and wife Joyce, also of Burleson. Eight grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, nephews/nieces, and cousins.
Letter from Don
Merry Christmas to all of our Family and Friends
I want to take this opportunity to thank all of you for your thoughts and prayers for me and my family at the loss of my wife, Lanetta, on 12/16/18 at around 06:15, the time I received the phone call from the Renaissance Park Multi Care facility in Benbrook, Texas. Based on what the staff related of the events, she had coded; was hypotensive and they made every effort to revive her, called the EMTs and police to continue working on her while transporting to Harris SW Hospital in Fort Worth. I speculate she was already gone before leaving the nursing home. At the hospital ER, sitting in the chair next to my wife and holding her hand, I told our 4 girls, "Mom woke up this morning (Sunday 12/16/18) to go to church and hear Jesus Himself preach this morning's sermon and she is singing His praises in the heavenly choir." Lanetta sang in the choir and often shared her beautiful voice singing solos. Unfortunately, she had gotten to the point that talking was very difficult, much less singing. She had a myriad of health issues that plagued her, including advanced Parkinson's disease. This will be the first Christmas we have missed with each other. I was blessed to have had 47 Christmases with her, though.
As sad as her departure from us was and is, I'm comforted that her faith and walk with Jesus was strong and His offer of forgiveness for our sins, to have right standing with God, irrespective of our sins and shortcomings, is the real reason of the season. No matter how good we are or what we do for others it's never going to be good enough to get us into heaven. Our righteousness, we are told in scripture is as filthy rags in God's comparative sight. The simplicity of the Gospel is that Jesus offered his perfect righteous life for us (the filthy rags) and God accepts that substitution and we get the free pass to enter heaven. My wife and I would like to see all we know accept this free-gift and join us at the appointed time. We never know when death will come and there are no second chances after death.
Feeling sad and needing comfort for my wife's passing, I turned to my Bible and read observations of what heaven is like, where she now resides. After reading I felt much better for her. She is no longer suffering in the corrupt body we have on this planet, but she is in an incorruptible body, fellowshipping with loved ones that went before (her mom who passed on 09/21/18, dad who passed 12 years earlier and our baby she lost in miscarriage in 1975), all the past Christians that have passed and Jesus Himself. Our pastor and the rest of our family agree that Lanetta received a gift this year that is far greater than anything we could have given her. She gets to spend this Christmas with the Lord Jesus, without any more suffering, pain, temptations and disappointments associated with this life.
I wanted to share with you the comfort I received, despite her passing. I hope that each and all of you a wonderful Christmas with you family, loved ones and friend. Also, please keep in mind the real reason for the season.
