Larry Wayne Schwalk of Burleson, Texas, passed away surrounded by his loving family on January 21, 2022. Larry was born on October 21, 1949, in Perryton, Texas, to Lester and Lucy Schwalk. His childhood was spent on the family farm, where his mother still lives today. During his childhood he acquired many of his skills that enabled him to minister to so many people in his lifetime.
Larry and Emma Lou Evans were married on August 21, 1970, in Perryton, Texas. After graduating from Oklahoma Panhandle State College in Goodwell, the couple moved to Fort Worth for Larry to attend the Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. They settled in Burleson in 1975 where they lived with their three children Mandy, Crista and Brad. They joined Crestmont Baptist Church in 1976 where Larry was a dedicated member for over 45 years. He served as a Sunday School director and teacher, and as a deacon. Larry also loved to minister to children and youth through coaching little league teams, attending Mission Trips, in addition to running the ministry of Crestmont Raceways, where he conducted hundreds of Pinewood Derby races all over Texas.
He spent much of his career in distribution, and after retirement owned and operated his lawn care business, Cross Cut Mow and Trim. Larry never met a stranger, and if you were ever in his radius, you felt accepted and cared for. To know him was to love him.
Larry was preceded in death by his father Lester J. Schwalk, father-in-law Robert Evans, mother-in-law Betty Evans Oliphint, brother-in-law Gerald Strate, and sister-in-law Barbara Drescher.
Larry is survived by his loving wife Emma, his children Mandy Youngblood and husband John, Crista Bailey and husband Joseph, Brad Schwalk and wife Kim; his grandchildren Jacob and Eleanor Youngblood, Luke, Micah, Judah, and Gracie Bailey, and Anne Schwalk; his mother Lucy Schwalk, brothers Bob Schwalk and twin Garry Schwalk and wife Peggy, sisters Janice Strate and Glynes LaRue and husband David, brothers-in-law Art Drescher and Bob Evans and wife Shary, and sister-in-law Ginger Wilson; and many treasured nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Crestmont Raceways, care of Crestmont Baptist Church.
