BURLESON -- Larry Wayne Sparks Sr., 63, of Burleson, a mechanical engineer, died Saturday, Oct. 24, 2009, at his residence. Funeral: 2 p.m. Wednesday in Mountain Valley Funeral Home Chapel. Interment: Union Hill Cemetery. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Mountain Valley Funeral Home. Larry was born Oct. 13, 1946, in Shawnee, Okla., to Lewis and Vesta Guinn Sparks. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy and became a mechancal engineer. Larry was also a gifted leathersmith, designing saddles, and an accomplished horseman. Larry was a member of the Masonic lodge for 37 years and was an involved member of the Johnson County Sheriff's Posse. He was a Baptist. Survivors: Wife, Johnnie Sparks of Burleson; sons, Donald Otto and wife, Tia, of Dutton, Mont., and Larry Sparks Jr. and wife, Chrissy, of Joshua; grandsons, Robert Otto and John Otto, both of Dutton, Mont.; brother, Gary Sparks and wife, Melanie, of Corsicana; sister, Kaye Sparks Morrison and husband, Dalton, of Midlothian; sisters-in-law, Diana Crowder and Teresa Burleson; brothers-in-law, Kenneth Yancey and Billy Yancey; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
