Surrounded by a host of family and friends, Layla Grace Evetts ran into the arms of Jesus in whom she put all of her faith and trust on February 27, 2020. She was born on March 6, 2013 in Waco, Tx to Corey Evetts and Amanda Perry.
Although her life ended much to soon, Layla lived a full and wonderful life. She was able to graduate Kindergarten and attend much of 1st grade at Joshua Christian Academy and maintained A's and B's while undergoing several different therapies to treat her cancer. In the world of DIPG, Layla was a unicorn having survived 2 stints of radiation, 2 different kinds chemotherapy, and 2 different clinical trials. Her doctors and nurses have all remarked on the miracle that she is. However, her greatest achievement was the day of her baptism.
Layla will be forever remembered by her faith and intense love for Jesus and her family. Even in the circumstances she found herself in, she was always more concerned about others than herself. She was strong, compassionate, loving, beautiful, intelligent, and adventurous. She will always be noted for approaching something scary and yet saying, "I've done harder things." Her smile and laughter lit up every room and her playful spirit will never be forgotten.
Layla loved all things furry, purple, turquoise, sparkly, and lovely. She had a deep love for good music, especially her Jesus music and Aaron Watson. Her favorite thing to do was to create, whether that was food or crafting.
She is survived by her parents Corey and Ashleye Evetts and Luke and Amanda Perry, her twin sister Rayleigh Evetts, sister Anestyn Evetts, brothers Carstyn and Cynzler Evetts, and brother Mason Perry. She is also survived by grandparents Gene and Rhonda Mason, Kelly and Danae Perry, David and Beverly Williams, and Janet Evetts and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Our lives have been forever changed by you, Layla Gracious! We will live each day cherishing your memory and leading your legacy! Sing with the angels, baby girl!
