Lonnie M. Cochran was born in San Pedro, CA, on July 26, 1948.
As a child, in Los Angeles, CA, mom said Lonnie was always helpful to her and all his siblings. The family moved to Bakersfield, CA, in the 60s. He couldn't wait to get his driver's license. Then he could help mom by going to the store, wink wink.
At age 17, Lonnie found his first job down the street at the Shell Service Station. This fueled his love for tinkering around with cars and problem solving, at this he was a natural.
Lonnie met Sharon, the girl of his dreams, they soon married on Feb. 9, 1970. Soon after their marriage, they moved to Trona, CA, where they started a family with their son, Eric.
Lonnie began his career as a mechanic and machinist at Kerr McGee and later with J Hardie before the family transferred to Joshua, TX, to continue working for J Hardie.
Lonnie was well respected for talents and hard work ethics. His ability to troubleshoot and solve complex mechanical issues made him an asset for J Hardie.
Lonnie was predeceased by his only son, Eric, grandma, grandad and uncle Dewey who welcomed him to his new home in heaven.
Lonnie is survived by his loving wife, Sharon, of nearly 50 years; beloved grandchildren, Jenna, Makayla and children Marley and Emily, Chris, Daniel and his wife, Jessica, and children, Kaiden, Thor, Chevelle and Nova. He also leaves his mother, Dottie; brothers, Don, David and Daniel; sister, Glenda; cousins, Dale and Paul; and numerous nephews and nieces.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2019, at Mountain Valley Funeral Home, 3407 S.W. Wilshire Blvd. in Joshua.
