Lori Lynn McKenzie, 36, of Joshua, an Ellis County deputy sheriff, left this life to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 19, 2011, in Fort Worth. Memorial service: 10 a.m. Friday at First United Methodist Church in Joshua. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Ellis County Sheriff Officer's Association or First United Methodist Church of Joshua Food Pantry. Lori was born Jan. 27, 1975, in Fort Worth to Roy John and Barbara Jean King McKenzie. She attended and graduated from Sweetwater High School where she was manager of the boys basketball team and played golf. She graduated from Hays County Sheriff's Academy in 1998 and also attended Texas A&M University. She was presently an active member of the Ellis County Sheriff Officer's Association and Explorer Post. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Joshua, enjoyed playing golf, and loved riding motorcycles. Lori's love for other people was expressed through the donation of her tissue through Life Gift. Her family would like to express gratitude of thanks to the Ellis County Sheriff's Department for all their love and support. She was preceded in death by her grandparents. Survivors: Parents, Roy and Barbara McKenzie of Joshua; sister, Amy Prather and husband, Eric; brother, Bryan McKenzie and wife, Heather; children, Brittany Harvey, Ian Harvey, Zack Meacham; nephews, Joshua Prather, Blake McKenzie, Hunter McKenzie; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins; and countless friends.
