JOSHUA -- Lorraine A Garrett, 78, a homemaker, went to be with our Lord and Savior on Monday, March 20, 2006, with her family by her side. Funeral: 11 a.m. Thursday in Mountain Valley Funeral Home Chapel, located between Burleson and Joshua. Burial: Laurel Land Memorial Park in Fort Worth. Visitation: 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Mountain Valley Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be her grandchildren. Lorraine A. Garrett was born Sept. 21, 1927, in Newburgh, N.Y., to Harold Hugh and Martha Ann Schaffer McAlley. She married Daniel E. Garrett Sr. on July 3, 1950, in New Milford, Pa. She moved to Texas in 1964 and had lived in Joshua for 24 years. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend, and a faithful member of Reece Prairie Baptist Church in Burleson. She was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 40 years and a sister, Luella Boughton. To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. II Corinthians 5:8. Survivors: Sons, Daniel E. Garrett Jr. and wife, Pauline, of Crowley and Harold H. Garrett Sr. of Joshua; daughters, Martha Muse of Benbrook and Lorry Wilson and husband, Randy, of Fort Worth; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and two new blessings on the way.
