Louis Cecil Dixon Jr.

August 25, 1937 — January 21, 2023

Louis Cecil “L.C.” Dixon, Jr., affectionately known as “papa,” of Alvarado passed away peacefully on January 21, 2023. L.C. was born on August 25, 1937, in Myrtle, Arkansas, to Cecil and Leah (Harris) Dixon. L.C. was the oldest of five children and was raised on a dairy farm in Harrison, Arkansas, in the beautiful Ozark Mountains. L.C. attended the College of the Ozarks and later served in the U.S. Navy as a machinist aboard the USS Taussig. Following his time in the Navy, L.C. moved to Fort Worth, Texas, where he owned and operated a machine business. L.C. met Bonnie Sue Thompson in Texas and they were married on April 25, 1959. Bonnie and L.C. resided in Burleson and together raised three children, Kathy, Kelly, and Alan. In his spare time, L.C. enjoyed flying small aircraft and later became a flight instructor and helicopter pilot.

L.c. was known for his sense of humor and booming laugh, frequently remarking that “SHOT BY A JEALOUS HUSBAND” would be inscribed on his tombstone into perpetuity. His machine shop was always filled with visitors who stopped by to chat, and we were never certain how much work got done there. Papa loved and adored his five grandchildren, and we enjoyed many years of dog piles, weenie roasts, sleep overs, and too rough tickling,

L.C. will be fondly remembered as a loving brother, husband, father, and Papa.

L.C. is preceded in death by his wife of sixty-three years, Bonnie, his son-in-law, Terry McCulloch, and three brothers, Lee, Richard, and Rodney Dixon.

L.C. is survived by his youngest sibling Naomi Day of Springfield, Missouri; three children, Kathy Miller; Kelly McCulloch; and Alan Dixon and wife Michelle; five grandchildren and their spouses; Dixie Lupi, Sally McCulloch, Bailey Peterson, Casey Dixon, and Corey Dixon; and seven great-grandchildren, Eloise, Carter, Mack. Mallie, Caroline, Royce, and Knox.
