On Saturday, September 5, 2020, Marvin B. McCulloch of Burleson, affectionately known as “M.B.” and “Mac,” went to be home with the Lord at the age of 94.
M.B. was born on August 18, 1926, in Dawson, TX, to Bennie and Velma (Berry) McCulloch. M.B. served in the U.S. Navy during World War II as Seaman First Class aboard the USS Wake Island. On Christmas Day 1949, he married Joyce Sawyer, and together they raised three sons, Randall, Garry and Terry. An avid baseball fan, M.B. coached his sons’ teams for years and cheered the Boston Red Sox to many victories. He retired from Southwestern Bell Telephone Company after 25 years at the age of 56. He enjoyed playing dominoes at the Senior Center and loved being with his family. M.B. made a profession of faith in Jesus Christ at age 63 and was baptized at Retta Baptist Church where he seldom missed a Sunday service. M.B. will be fondly remembered by his family and friends as a devoted husband, loving father and Papaw, generous provider, hard worker, domino champ, Retta Rocker, proud patriot and U.S. Navy veteran.
M.B. was preceded in death by his son, Randall McCulloch, and his siblings, Lucy Roloff, Ruth McCulloch, and Ralph McCulloch.
He is survived by his wife of over 70 years, Joyce; two sons, Garry and wife, Lisa, and Terry and wife, Kelly; daughter-in-law, Elizabeth; six granddaughters, Shelley Frank, Amanda McCraw, Dixie Lupi, Sally McCulloch, Megan Kruckeberg, and Andrea Bleeker; and 9 great-grandchildren, Lilly, Maddy, Gunnar, Kole, Kyla, Eloise, Kinsley, Caroline and Lennon.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 8, 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm, Mountain Valley Funeral Home, 3407 SW Wilshire Blvd, Joshua, Texas.
Funeral service to be held Wednesday, September 9, 10:00 am, Retta Baptist Church, 3201 Rendon Rd, Burleson, Texas.
Burial will be at DFW National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, Texas. Date and time pending.
