Mary Sue Bell Knight Obituary
Our precious wife, mother and grandmother Mary Sue was born on Friday March 5, 1937, in Hugo Oklahoma. She went home to the Lord on Friday April 5, 2024, at the age of 87. Mary Sue accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior when she was 8 years old and lived a faithful Christian life for 79 years. All her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, without exception, are in the kingdom of God because of Nanny's prayers and influence. She had a tremendous role model, her mother, Nannie Bell. All of Mary Sue's children strive to follow in their godly example.
In the summer of 1948 at the age of 11, Mary Sue, and her family, left Hugo OK and moved to Coleman Texas for the dryer climate and to be near family.
In the spring of 1953 Mary Sue was visiting her sister in Memphis Tennessee. She baked a cake for a lady friend from church who happened to own a boarding house. While delivering the cake she met the love of her life, Billy Wayne Knight, who was temporarily boarding there. Bill joined the United States Air Force in March 1954. Mary Sue and Bill quickly fell in love and married in Corinth Mississippi on Monday December 23, 1954.
On Thursday September 27, 1956, at Washington Township, MO, they welcomed their first child, Johnny Wayne Knight. Two years later, on Friday October 10, 1958, in Coleman TX they welcomed their second child, Karen Sue "Susie" Knight. Three years later, on Monday June 5, 1961, in Coleman TX they welcomed their third child, William "Billy" Weston Knight. Three years later, on Sunday August 16, 1964, in Honolulu Hawaii they welcomed their fourth child, Mary Anne Knight.
Billy Wayne and Mary Sue founded A.T.A.C. (Air Transport Arm of Christ, Inc. I ATAC Missions)
in 1982 and Mary Sue served as secretary Irom 1982 to 2017. ATAC brought dental and
medical teams to Mexico in private airplanes. She also worked with her husband, Billy Wayne Knight, as secretary at BK Aviation Services from 1982 through 2022.
Mary Sue was preceded in death by her parents, Truman Thomas, and Clara Eva Bell, four brothers John, Lewis, Harold, Truman, and daughter Karen Sue (Susie) Jewett.
She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Billy Wayne Knight; three children Johnny Wayne, Billy Weston and Mary Anne Madill; eight grandchildren, Joshua, Jennifer, Robert, Lacey, Christopher, Lynsey, Jonathan, and Lauren; eighteen great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.
