Mary Malone

July 9, 1932 — April 17, 2025

Mary "Ann" Malone was born in Joshua, Texas on July 9, 1932 to Guy D and Alma (Hiner) Whitlock. She passed away from this life to her heavenly home early Thursday morning on April 17, 2025.

Ann lived her whole life in Joshua, Texas and married her high school sweetheart, Bill Malone, on September 15, 1950. They were married for almost 57 years. She worked at Montgomery Ward for several years and then started her career at the Joshua Post Office in July, 1966. There she worked several positions, including Postmaster, before retiring. Ann and Bill had two children, Gwen and Wade. Ann worked faithfully through the years to help her family and others. She had no desire herself to go to college, but she was proud she had helped put her husband and two children through college. Also, she was a pastor's wife for many years at Greenbrier Baptist Church in Alvarado, Mount Carmel Baptist Church in Cleburne and Buel Baptist Church in Cleburne, where Bill retired. She was a member of Lane Prairie Baptist Church in Joshua. Along with her career, church, and family, she and Bill had a small farm where they enjoyed raising many animals, mainly sheep, goats and chickens. Ann continued to raise goats until well into her 80's. Ann loved her family, church family, and friends so much. She was always willing to help others. If she saw a need or a problem, she always wanted to do whatever she could to help. And she did. The Lord blessed her with a long, healthy life. She was able to live by herself and take care of not only her own business but others, as she was secretary of the Caddo Cemetery Association and administrator of a family member's estate at the time of her death at the age of 92. Three years ago she took in a little corgi puppy who is deaf. She named her Angel. While training her, she sometimes wondered why she had named her Angel, but she continued to work with her, and they developed a wonderful routine and special bond. Ann will be dearly missed by all that knew her as her life touched so many others. She lived a full life and was ready to go be with the Lord at the end of that life.

Ann was preceded in death by her parents Guy D and Alma Whitlock, her husband Bill, brother Bob Whitlock, sister Peggie Owens, and sister Ginny Smith.

She is survived by her daughter Gwen Owens and husband Richard of Alvarado, Texas, her son Wade Malone and wife Wilma of Emporia, Kansas, grandchildren Janna Michael and husband Jason, Mark Owens and wife Kris, Rick Owens and wife Jaime, Billy Malone and wife Brittany, and Justin Malone and wife Haley. She is also survived by nine great grandchildren, one great great granddaughter, sister Sondra Watson of Granbury and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Community Healthcare Hospice House at Huguley, 301 Medpark Circle, Burleson, TX 76028.

May you rest in peace dear Mom, Grandma and Gigi.
