BURLESON -- Mattie Oneta Powell, 91, of Burleson, passed away Wednesday, February 1, 2012. Memorial Service: 7PM Friday, January 3, at First Assembly of God Church of Joshua. Visitation: 6-8PM Thursday, at Mountain Valley Funeral Home. Burial: Private. Mattie was born August 12, 1920, in Blanchard, OK, to the Late Charles D. and Lillie Mae Peel Yancey. She was a short order Cook most of her life, and a former Matron of the Church of God Home for Children. Mattie loved embroidery and quilting. Survivors: sons, Charles and Ron Powell; daughters, Joyce Powell, and Brenda Shanley; 3 brothers; 3 sisters; 4 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; and a host of other loving extended family and friends.
