Max Rayburn Stamps

Max Rayburn Stamps, 87, of North Richland Hills, a retired captain in the United States Marine Corps, died Tuesday, July 13, 2010, in Keller. Graveside service: 10 a.m. Friday in Burleson Memorial Cemetery. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Mountain Valley Funeral Home. Mr. Stamps was born May 20, 1923, in Childress to James Albert and Mary J. Austin Stamps. He married Mary Louise Martin on Nov. 15, 1941, in Yuma, Ariz. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps as a captain during World War II. After retiring from the Marine Corps, he was a banker, raised greyhounds and enjoyed sports, especially the Texas Rangers. He was preceded in death by his wife on Feb. 28, 2010. Survivors: Son, James Stamps and wife, Rachel, of North Richland Hills; and grandchildren, Zach and Marisa Stamps.
