Melvin Doyle Jones

Melvin Doyle Jones was born in DeLeon, Texas, on August 20, 1937. He passed away Saturday, November 27th in Fort Worth surrounded by his family. But it's what he did with those 84 years in between that really matters.

Melvin was a quiet and shy man who taught those around him what love really looks like.

Although they divorced in 1982, Melvin never stopped loving his ex-wife Linda. Although, they were known to fight, their love for their two daughters and grandchildren brought them back together in ways Melvin would never have been able to imagine. Melvin and Linda continued to form a foundation that their families could always count on.  While some men fight paying child support, Melvin, not a rich man by any means, considered that just the beginning. He set an amazing example for his daughters of what a good man and father looks like. Not just financially, but also emotionally and spiritually.

Melvin spent 40 years combined working for Murdock Engineering and Lockheed Martin before retiring in 2006.

He never stopped missing his parents Goldie Lee and Dr. Bob Jones... or his siblings who preceded him in death, Ralph Jones, Veda Isabel and Ray Jones.

Melvin is survived by his ex-wife and best-friend Linda Jones. Daughter, Melissa Jones Pendley, son-in-law Steven and granddaughter Amelia.  His daughter Susan Rhoten, son-in-law Mike and grandsons Trey Robertson and Levi Rhoten.  There are also lots of nieces and nephews who will miss him.

Melvin loved westerns, good chicken fried steak, peach cobbler and sweet tea.

We know when he arrived in heaven, the Lord met him saying "Well done, good and faithful servant" and really, who can hope for more than that.

The funeral service is set for Monday, December 6th, at 11AM at Mountain Valley Funeral Home.  Internment will be at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery on a future date.
