Michael Joe Gaudet

Michael Joe Gaudet of Joshua, Tx, passed away very unexpectedly at home on August 8, 2024. Funeral services will be at Mountain Valley Funeral Home in Joshua on Thursday August 15, 2024, at 11:00 am.

Mike leaves behind his loving wife of 37 years Vicki Alexander Gaudet, sisters Margaret Sweizer and Teresa Tibbs, brother Steve Gaudet, numerous nieces and nephews, plus cousins in Texas and Rhode Island. Both is parents Ruby Mozelle and Joe Henry Gaudet preceded him in death.

Mike was employed by the Texas State Attorney General's office for the last 6 years. Prior to that he was employed by the Johnson County Sheriff's Office for 23 years and Lockheed Martin Fort Worth Division for 10 years. Mike served in the Army from 1977 to 1982 in Germany guarding Checkpoint Charlie.

While with the Sheriff's Department Mike had numerous duties such as Lieutenant over the investigators which included homicide, murders, burglaries, videographer, crimes against children, latent fingerprint examiner, assisted CAC with a variety of cases, assisted the DA'S office, learned how to trace criminals on computers, was a founding member of CASA and various other cases as necessary. After he became familiar with computers he helped in the office with computer problems.

When Mike did decided to relax he enjoyed playing with our dogs, going to dinner with friends especially eating lobster, watching movies in pjs and playing Halo, a computer game at home. With help and nagging from his wife, Mike had just been declared cancer free this past year. He had cancer on one-half of his tongue, had to have that part of his tongue removed plus reconstructive surgery, then went thru chemo and radiation during the last three years.

The family greatly appreciates your presence here today, and the love and support offered to his wife, Vicki and family. In lieu of flowers we wish for donations to local pet shelters be made or the ASPCA to help animals.
