Michelle Ann Markum

On Tuesday, March 23, 2021, Michelle Ann Hughes Markum, loving wife, mother, Mamaw, daughter, aunt, sister and friend, passed away at 57 after a brief battle with cancer.

Michelle was born January 11, 1964 in Minnesota to Myron “Mike” Hughes and Nancy Dubbs Hughes. She was a 1982 graduate of Southwest High School in Fort Worth. She married the love of her life, Terry Markum, on May 27, 1982 in Fort Worth. They raised three wonderful children, Terry Jr., Barbara and Robin.

Michelle had a passion for family. She loved seeing life through the eyes of her children and grandchildren. On any given night, you could find her at the baseball field watching her grandkids play. On weekends, she gathered her family together for camping, fishing, fun and enjoying life.

Michelle had a zest for life and lived it with a smile on her face. An eternal optimist, Michelle always saw the best in everyone she met. She loved watching NASCAR and her Texas teams – the Rangers, Mavericks, Stars and Cowboys. She also enjoyed reading a good book when she had free time.

Michelle was preceded in death by her mother, Nancy Hughes. She is survived by her husband Terry Markum; their three children, Terry Markum Jr and wife Gloria, Barbara Herring and husband David and Robin Markum; grandchildren Torian Markum, Dylan and Davis Herring, Emmalee and William Alvarez; father Myron Hughes and wife Joyce; brothers Scott Hughes and wife Jan, Matt Hughes and Brian Hughes and wife Elizabeth; and numerous other extended family and friends.
