Mona was the daughter of Albert and Iva Liles, and was born on November 30, 1932, in Sterling, Oklahoma. She was raised in the Fletcher, Oklahoma area, was a 1950 graduate of Fletcher High School, and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business from Oklahoma Baptist University in 1954. Mona was a civil service employee at Ft. Sill, Oklahoma for over 30 years, working the majority of her employment in the Transportation section, retiring in May 1988.
Sometime in 1957, Mona was set up on a blind date by one of her co-workers, Dorothy Covington. That blind date was Dorothy's youngest brother, Everett Wilson. Mona and Everett immediately hit it off, fell in love, and were eventually married on August 29, 1958, in Fletcher, Oklahoma. They established their home in Lawton, and lived there until late 2017, when they moved to Burleson, Texas in order to be closer to their son. Their marriage lasted for 62 years and ended upon Everett's passing on March 6, 2021. Mona was a long-time member of Trinity Baptist Church in Lawton and participated in the various ministries of the church. She was a strong Christian woman who loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and she ensured her children were raised in the church, as well. At the time of her passing, Mona was a resident of the Elk Creek Assisted Living Center in Burleson, Texas.
Mona was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Scott Strobel, of Ropesville, Texas; her son and daughter-in-law, Tom and Lydia Wilson, of Burleson, Texas; her granddaughter Carrie Taylor, of Granbury, Texas; her grandson, Brett Strobel, of Canyon, Texas; her granddaughter and her husband, Ruthie and Jarod Murry, of Burleson, Texas; great-granddaughters, Mollie Taylor, Nora Taylor, and Josephine Taylor, and great-grandsons Samuel Taylor and Charles Murry.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Mona's name to Trinity Baptist Church of Lawton, Oklahoma.
