NORTH RICHLAND HILLS -- Morris Walter Platt Sr., 78, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, went home to be with our Lord on Thursday, April 30, 2009. Funeral: 11 a.m. Monday in Mountain Valley Funeral Home Chapel. Interment: Cleburne Memorial Cemetery. Visitation: 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday at Mountain Valley Funeral Home. Morris was born in Meridian, Miss., on Aug. 4, 1930, to David Walter and Vernon Clarice Platt. Morris was a twin and the 10th child of 12 children. He joined the Army at the young age of 17 and served during the Korean War. After the war, Morris moved to Atlanta, Ga., and worked for Dwoskin Wallpaper for 21 years. In 1957, he transferred to Dallas, where he met and married the love of his life, Sallie Crowder Platt. Morris later became an independent wallpaper contractor for numerous homebuilders in the Metroplex. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Smithfield. He was devoted to his wife of 49-plus years and a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He will be greatly missed by his family and loving friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers; and eight sisters. Survivors: Wife, Sallie Crowder Platt of North Richland Hills; son, Morris Walter Platt Jr. and daughter-in-law, Katrina, of Grandview; daughter, Renetta Platt Key and son-in-law, Michael, of Itasca; grandsons, Franklin Dylan Platt of Fort Worth, Justin Wayne Key of Burleson, Stephen Anthony Platt of Watauga, Jacob Michael Key of Itasca, Michael Young of Dallas and Jeffory Taylor of Grandview; granddaughter, Jessica Lori Platt Hardin and husband, Michael; great-grandson, Aiden Michael Hardin; and many nieces, nephews and other family.
