MSGT. Newell "Stoney" Stonebraker, 76, of Burleson, a retired aviation mechanic passed away Wed. March 9, 2011 in Burleson. Service: 7pm Friday at Mountain Valley Funeral Home Chapel . Interment: 1 pm Saturday at Cottage Hill Cemetery in Celina. Visitation: 6-7 pm Friday at Mountain Valley Funeral Home. Newell was born May 7, 1934 in Neliegh, Nebraska to George and Gertrude Kost Stonebraker. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather. Newell proudly served his country and retired from the U.S. Air Force after 27 years. He also fought in the Korean and Vietnam Wars. After retirement Newell worked at Sams Club for 10 years at the Duncanville and Ft. Worth locations. He coached baseball and served as a cub scout master in his younger days. Newell was a lifetime member of VFW Post # 10429 in Benbrook. He was loved by all who knew him. Newell is preceded in death by his parents, first wife, Nita Stonebraker, 1 son Danny Stonebraker, 2 brothers, Dalmont and Delbert, 1 sister, Beth and a grandson, Philip Stonebraker. Survivors: Wife, Betty Stonebraker of Burleson; daughters, Christie Stonebraker and Ray Lewis of Ferris, Lisa Hudson and husband Richard of Mesquite, Deborah Flippin and husband Butch of Joshua, Mary Land and husband John of Burleson, Cathy Cook and husband Larry of Joshua; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.
