Mamilinda
Nilsa Margarita Nenadich Deglans
Our mom was born on September 16th, 1948 to two amazing parents, 2nd Lt. Ramon Pedro Nenadich and Margarita Deglans Acevedo in Mayagüez, Puerto Rico. She was the youngest of three children, and our grandmother's only daughter. She was born with gifted hands.
Our mom married quite young at 14 as it was customary at the time, and she began her cosmetology career which she exercised until 2022. Every woman, man, and child would fight to sit on her styling chair, because everyone and everything she touched she made beautiful. Mamilinda which means, "Pretty Mommy" brought out the beauty in each soul she encountered, and always with her amazing smile.
As a single mom in her twenties, Mom began her modeling career in the process of raising three children, along with our grandparents.
In her thirties, she began a college career earning her a Master's Degree in Hispanic Literature. Mom taught ESOL at Purdue University in Indiana in the 90's, and many other places; however, her greatest joy was teaching high school dropout kids how to find their way via a well earned GED. She had the gift of bringing out the best in people, their God given gifts, which many had not even discovered yet.
In her fourties and fifties, she focused on her next college career which earned her a Master's degree graduating Suma Cum Laude and valedictorian as a Master Artist.
Mom celebrated her sixtieth birthday in Paris, France where she was trying to settle and continue with her Doctorate degree, but God had other plans. Mom returned home and continued to thrive in her crafts, which were too numerous to list.
In her seventies, she sadly developed Alzheimer's disease.
Mom never wasted one second of her life. she always answered our calls, and sacrificed everything along with our grandparents to practice being the best examples on how to enjoy living, love unconditionally, and forgive always in love.
Mamilinda is survived by her precious only son Charles, myself Susana, and her baby girl Gretchen, who happens to share the same name with her. She loved us for who we were, mentored us and her grandchildren, and great grandchildren with the same love and hope.
Mamilinda loved life, loved dancing Flamenco and mastered the art of playing castanets since she was a child. She taught us how to go after our goals nad complete them, move forward, and how to love and forgive our enemies, Just like Jesus.
