Olive Irene Smith

December 12, 1923 — February 27, 2015

Olive Irene Anderson Smith, 91, passed away of natural causes on Friday, Feb. 27, 2015, surrounded by her family and friends. Service: 11 a.m. Tuesday in Mountain Valley Funeral Home Chapel. Burial: Caddo Cemetery, Joshua. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Olive was born Dec. 12, 1923, in Breckenridge to Berry Edward and Grace Crudgington Anderson. She married the love her life, Otis Lincoln Smith, On June 6, 1942, and spent the next 60 years in the cattle business with him. Olive was a member of Joshua Church of Christ for many years. In later years she was a faithful member of Burleson Church of Christ. She devoted her life to being a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and will be missed by so many friends and loved ones. Olive was preceded in death by her husband, Otis Lincoln Smith, in 2002; daughter, Betty Irene Smith, who was stillborn in 1946; and two brothers, Berry and Delma Anderson. Olive was a warm and generous lady and a great friend. She took care of everyone around her and offered a fresh slice of homemade pie for anyone who stopped by. She gave freely of her kindness, friendship and love. Olive was a loyal business partner to her husband, and a loving and warm homemaker. She gave her love, encouragement and support the her entire family throughout her life. Survivors: Loving son, Jerry Otis Smith; best friend and doting daughter, Debra Elaine Davidson; twin granddaughters, Traci Smith and Staci Burge; great-grandchildren, Alec Luna, Chase Burge, Lincoln Cole Luna, Kendall Burge; great-great-grandson, Preston Cole Luna; several nieces and nephews; and adopted son, Fred Wiemon of New Jersey. The family would like to give a special thank-you to her recent caregivers Joanne Roy, Jennifer McNatt, Lisa Neely and Joe Bob Armstrong. Also a special thank-you to Encompass Home Health and Mission Hospice.
