Paul D. Lewis (90), a retired U.S. Army Chief Warrant Officer, answered the final roll call on Tuesday, Oct. 5, 2021.
Funeral: The visitation and funeral will be at the First United Methodist Church, located at 590 NE McAlister in Burleson, Texas. The visitation will take place from 12:30 – 1:30 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 11 and a celebration of life service will follow at 2 p.m. Masks will be required indoors.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, please send memorial gifts to the American Parkinson Disease Association (APDA) or your charity of choice.
Paul was born Jan. 9, 1931, near Colorado City, in Mitchell County, Texas, to the late C.C. and Oliff Lewis. He spent almost all his working life, a total of more than 42 years, in the service of his country as a member of the U.S. Army, including as an Army National Guard technician. His many military awards and decorations include the Legion of Merit, the Army Meritorious Service Medal, the Army Commendation Medal and the Army Achievement Medal. His state decorations include the Lone Star Distinguished Service Medal, the Texas Outstanding Service Medal and the Texas Medal of Merit.
On March 10, 1950, he married Geneva Bloodworth in Loraine, Texas. They celebrated their 71st wedding anniversary this past March. They were blessed with three children, seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
He was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church and served in various positions of responsibility in the church throughout the years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Michael David; granddaughter, Lauren Nicole Richey; three brothers and one sister.
He is survived by his wife, Geneva; son, Jerry of Bradenton, Florida; daughter, Ann Richey, and her husband, Craig, of Lantana, Texas; sister, Dorothy, of Schertz, Texas; six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.
