Pearl "Peggy" (Milner) Bransom

September 8, 1933 — June 10, 2016

JOSHUA -- Pearl "Peggy" Milner Bransom passed away Friday, June 10, 2016. Service: 10 am Tuesday at the Mountain Valley Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation: 5-7 pm Monday at the Funeral Home. Burial: Greenacres Memorial Park in Cleburne. Pearl was born Sept. 8, 1933, in a rural area near Sidney to Veda and Carl Milner. She was the third child in the family, with two older brothers, Wade and Garnett, and a younger sister, Ben Ella. Pearl attended school in Sidney until her senior year of high school when her father moved the family to Joshua, closer to his job at Convair (General Dynamics) in Fort Worth. She had a vivacious personality and was popular with classmates and teachers, according to classmate Dewey "D.A." Noles. She was an excellent student and graduated as valedictorian of the Joshua High School Class of 1952, a combination of brains and beauty. Pearl elected to attend business college in Fort Worth after high school graduation and later worked as a secretary in downtown Fort Worth. Living with her family on one of Joshua's main streets, Pearl's house was a popular meeting place for friends and fellow students. It was at one of these gatherings that she met the love of her life, Kenneth Bransom. Pearl recalled when that tall, handsome young man gave her a wink, she knew he was "the one." They were married in Joshua on Jan. 16, 1953, the same day that Kenneth received his draft notice. They later welcomed a daughter, Carla. Pearl worked in banking for many years and concluded her career at Sun Oil in Dallas. She lived in various Texas towns due to her husband's business transfers with Texas Power & Light Company and created beautiful, welcoming homes wherever she lived. Interior decorating was one of her talents. Pearl and Kenneth retired in 1991, returned to Joshua, and became active in volunteer and civic activities. Pearl campaigned for Kenneth when he ran for mayor and was a source of support and encouragement during his eight-year tenure as mayor of Joshua. She was the volunteer director of the Senior Citizens' Center for 12 years and also delivered Meals On Wheels. Pearl was a faithful member of Burleson Church of Christ, which was an important part of her life. Pearl's two grandchildren, Kenneth and Olivia Wethington, were the joys of her life, and they enjoyed spending time with "Peggy and Papa." Christmas was an especially happy time for Pearl, with gift-opening as a particular highlight. Having played basketball during high school, Pearl was an enthusiastic sports fan and enjoyed watching her favorite sports teams on television. She especially enjoyed watching the Dallas Mavericks and was an avid Dirk Nowitzki fan. The Dallas Cowboys were a favorite team, and she never failed to watch and critique their games. The family wishes to thank the minister of Burleson Church of Christ and his wife, Karl and Jane Jones; Dr. Becerra, the staff of Heart to Heart Hospice, with special appreciation to Lori, Natasha and Paula; and to her loyal neighbor, Linda Burrows. Survivors: She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Kenneth Bransom; daughter and son-in-law, Carla and Rudolf Siegesmund; grandchildren, Kenneth and Olivia Wethington; sister, Ben Ella Stewart; along with many cousins, nieces and nephews.
