R.D. Scott

BURLESON -- R.D. Scott, 77, of Burleson, a retired director of maintenance for Burleson I.S.D. died Mon. Dec. 27, 2010 in Burleson. Memorial Service: 3:30 P.M. Thurs. at Mountain Valley Funeral Home Chapel. R.D. was born Feb. 20, 1933 in Purvis, MS. to Z.H. and Velva Allred Scott. R.D. was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He married Shirley Ann Huffman on Dec. 14, 1951 in Weatherford. R.D. proudly served his country in the National Guard. He loved woodworking, helping people, church and spending time with his family. R.D. was a member of First Bapt. Church of Burleson for 45 years. He retired from General Dynamics after 21 years of service and Burleson I.S.D. after 30 years. He was a leader by example. R.D. won citizen of the year in 2000. He was preceded in death by son, David Scott and his parents. Survivors: Wife, Shirley Scott of Burleson; son, Wendell Scott and wife Chelle of Burleson; daughter, Wanda Huneycutt and husband Steven of Ft. Morgan, Colo.; grandchildren, Brad Huneycutt, Abbey Huneycutt, Greg Scott; great grandson, Eli Durwood Scott; sister, Virginia Reeves and husband Hubert of Gladewater; extended family and friends.
