Reverend Wayne West, 79, departed this life to touch the face of God on July 1, 2015. Celebration of life service will be 1:00 pm Monday, July 6, at Mountain Valley Funeral Home, in Joshua. Visitation will be Sunday, July 5, from 3-5 p.m. A graveside service will be held at Godley Cemetery. Pallbearers: Rev. Otis Gillespie, Bryan Bradley, Nathan Stepp, J.W West, Pat Hamilton, and Terry Baker. Vernon Wayne West was born on October 31, 1935 to Vernon and Thelma West in Warren, Arkansas. He married the love of his life Wanda King West on August 2, 1956. They shared almost 59 years together. He was the Patriarch of our family, a faithful husband, devoted father, loving grandfather,and great grandfather, and mentor to many. Reverend West was an Assemblies of God evangelist, in the ministry for over 58 years. We are just now learning what an impact he had on so many friends, family, and loved ones. He lived the life he preached about, and his family will always be his legacy. Rev. West proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force, stationed at Carswell AFB. from 1954-1958. He is survived by: wife Wanda King West, Daughter Terri Cate and husband Mark. Sons: Mark West and wife Sharon, and Jay West. 6 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, brother Jackie West, sisters Sandra Johnson, DeRay McClain, and Linda Thompson. Reverend West was preceded in death by his parents Vernon and Thelma West, and brother, Jimmy West. He was retired from Fort Worth ISD. 31 years of service.
