Richard Roy Camp was born in Atlanta, Georgia on September 12, 1934, to Fred Roy Camp and Ethel M. (Funderburke) Camp. He passed away peacefully on Friday morning March 21, 2025, as he was welcomed into the arms of his Heavenly Father.
Richard grew up in New Orleans, Louisiana and Atlanta, Georgia with his parents and sister Fredna (Camp) Tobelman.
As a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, Richard served his country with honor and integrity. After the military, Richard worked for the General Motors Corporation for 30 years before retiring. Richard was also an active member of the Joshua Methodist Church in Joshua, Texas.
He was a faithful husband of 70 years to Carol Ann Haas Camp and devoted father to their 4 children: Danny Camp (Kathy), Mike Camp, Tami Camp Dickerson (Michael) and Tina Camp Cundiff (Charles). He took great pride in his grandchildren, Casey Camp, Serena Geesling, Kendra Roberts, Colby Arrington, Mikey Dickerson, Shaunna Camp, Tim Arrington, Chelsea Newell, Walker Frailey & Tyler Dickerson and 7 great grandchildren.
Richard found joy in competing on horseback with his family and riding club for many years before moving to Callender Lake in east Texas where his hobbies included fishing, boating and wood crafting. In 2016, Richard and Carol moved back to their hometown of Burleson and enjoyed the last 9 years visiting with neighbors, making new friends and attending family and church gatherings.
